Silverstone Park Partners with Akoje Gallery to Launch Landmark Sculpture Commission Exploring the Intersection of Nature and Advanced Engineering.
Silverstone Park, a leading destination for advanced engineering, innovation and high-performance technology businesses, has partnered with Akoje Gallery to commission two major outdoor sculptures by acclaimed artist Cristina Morbi.
Titled Magnetic Compass: Land of Currents and Windrose, the works will explore how natural forces inspire technological innovation - particularly within the realm of advanced engineering and motorsport, a core theme of Silverstone Park. The sculptures will be installed in summer 2026, ahead of the British Grand Prix.
Akoje Gallery, co-founded by England, British & Irish Lions and Saracens rugby captain Maro Itoje and Khalil Akar, is leading the commission as part of its broader Paint The Game campaign. This initiative seeks to use visual art as a tool to connect the worlds of sport, culture, and education. By commissioning site-specific artworks and collaborating with athletes, artists, and institutions, Paint The Game aims to break down barriers between disciplines, encourage creative dialogue, and spotlight the often-overlooked cultural narratives within sport. This partnership with Silverstone Park represents a bold step in bringing together engineering, motorsport and art.
The large-scale installations will serve as the first permanent artworks in a new art trail across Silverstone Park. Home to a community of cutting-edge technology firms and adjacent to the world-renowned Silverstone Circuit, Silverstone Park has long been synonymous with high-performance innovation. These sculptures will embody the Park’s engineering DNA - through materials such as carbon fibre, reused steel, and other motorsport-grade components - while also contributing to the growing cultural and ecological landscape of the region.
